Named after the buzzing Queens NY resort that enjoyed huge popularity in the late 50s and early 60s, Far Rockaway occupies a 400-capacity space on Shoreditch’s lively Curtain Road: a stretch that is also home to the bustling Shoreditch Diner and chic interior boutique, SCP, as well as many other enduring ‘destination’ venues.
Specially designed in a modular layout to cater for every kind of visitor, from intimate couples to large groups or even business entertaining, Far Rockaway boasts some dazzling features that are sure to excite East London’s most discerning drinkers.
Far Rockaway is totally on-trend with its food and drink offerings. Cocktails on draught, usually only found at exclusive members’ clubs, means swift service of high-end beverages. The hugely popular Frozen Margarita will be on sale as well as a variety of locally sourced beers.
The bar food is NY snack-style, featuring pizza by the slice to eat in or go. A rotisserie oven will prepare spit-roasted organic chicken and suckling pig. More menu highlights include slow roasted baby back cola ribs, blackened salmon fillets, pulled five-spice duck and traditional Knickerbocker Glory desserts.
Friday nights groove to soul and funk, while Saturday nights will rock to a Shoreditch bloc-party vibe. Sundays are for kicking back with a “reggae roast” flavour, while Thursday nights provide entertainment from bingo, to art salons and quizzes.
A 4000-strong library of DC and Marvel comic books is also on site so guests can find escapism from dancing or vibing with their friends, and offers a fantastic excuse to swing by solo.
Far Rockaway’s owner is a New York native who spent his childhood growing up in the district, adding a final layer of authenticity to the project.
All in all, it’s far more than just a night out drinking. Ultimately Far Rockaway will provide a unique social experience to satisfy the most demanding of visitors.
